Snowmass and Aspen offer something for everyone in the winter. Snowmass Ski Area features a variety of exciting winter events that are fun for the whole family. The Snowmass winter starts out with the action-packed Aspen Winternational World Cup Ski Race over the Thanksgiving weekend, and for the rest of the winter, the town is buzzing with events. The ESPN Winter XGames, the Aspen Snowmass Open, and the Colorado Freeride Series are great spectator events and draw some of the world’s greatest ski and snowboard competitors each year. Snowmass celebrates Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day each year with parades, competitions, and great special events. In January, Aspen Snowmass comes alive with our annual Winterskol celebration. Winterskol is a wonderful time to visit Snowmass, with a weeklong celebration of winter including fireworks, parades, on-mountain events, a soup competition, ice sculptures, and more. The Bud Light Spring jam features two action-packed weekends in March with an array of concerts and on-mountain events. Aspen Fashion Week and Aspen Shorts Fest round out the winter events off the snow, along with plenty of other cultural happenings all winter long. Whether you are looking for fun on or off the mountain during your Snowmass ski vacation, there are plenty of Snowmass events that will entertain and wow you.

November 24 - Aspen Snowmass Opening Day

November 26-27 - Aspen Winternational World Cup Race—The world’s fastest downhill skiers take Aspen by storm over the Thanksgiving weekend. This adrenaline-fueled women’s World Cup ski race kicks off the Aspen Snowmass winter season. Lift 1A offers prime spectator viewing, and the first of the Bud Lite Hi Fi outdoor concerts keeps the action going into the evening. Thanksgiving and the Aspen Winternational is a great time to visit Snowmass.

January 12-14  Winterskol—Plan your Snowmass vacation around Aspen Snowmass’s annual toast to winter! This winter carnival type weekend celebrates Aspen’s unique mountain lifestyle with on-mountain activities, Soupskol, a canine parade, fireworks, and more.

January 26-29  ESPN Winter XGames—Aspen and Snowmass come alive each winter for this premier winter action sports event. Athletes from across the globe compete on the world’s biggest halfpipe, jumps, and much more. There is nothing quite like seeing skiers and snowboarders go huge under the lights at this free weekend event that is fun for the whole family.

February 9-12  Aspen Snowmass Open—This exciting ski and snowboard competition attracts over 350 athletes to come on the famed X Games slopestyle course and halfpipe at Buttermilk.

February 21  Mardi Gras Parade and Celebration in Snowmass—Book your Snowmass ski-in/ski-out lodging and celebrate Mardi Gras in the Rockies. One of the biggest bashes in ski country, Snowmass Mardi Gras kicks off with an uphill race on Fat Tuesday, followed by a parade, music, and other fun celebrations.

February 24-26  Colorado Freeride Series—This 3-day competition for skiers and snowboarders is located on Snowmass’s expert-only terrain is a great chance to see some amazing skiing. Viewing is possible from the High Alpine restaurant and from the bottom of the Hanging Valley Headwall. Come cheer on the 100 participants while to ski some of the most technical lines on Snowmass!

Aspen Fashion Week—Come check out the latest ski, resort, and technical outerware fashions in a town that has some of the most stylish consumers. With daily apres showings, on-mountain events, nightly runways shows, and late night soirees, this is the hottest fashion event in the Rockies.

March 16-18 and 23-25  Bud Light Spring Jam—These two action-packed weekends are a great way to celebrate spring in the Rockies. Featuring on-mountain competitions, concerts, and parties, this spring celebration offers fun for the whole family and is a great time of year to visit Aspen Snowmass.

March 17  St. Patrick’s Day Celebration—Enjoy a weekend of Irish-themed fun, from concerts to green beer with Irish cuisine, and even a scavenger hunt. The 13th annual Kick Aspen Big Air competition, under the lights at the base of Aspen Mountain, keeps the celebration and fun going into the evening.

April 10-15  Aspen Shorts Fest—One of the top 50 leading film festivals, the Aspen Shorts Fest showcases more than 80 short films. With comedy, drama, animation and documentary showing at the historic Wheeler Opera House, this is a fun reason to get to Aspen Snowmass in the spring!

April 15  Schneetag—Watch daredevils propel themselves down a hill, over a jump, and into a pond, all on a home-made craft. This hysterical event features costumed teams performing a skit and then a wild ride down the hill in front of Bonnie’s on Aspen Mountain. Prizes are awarded to the teams with the best costumes, creativity, and flight distance. This is an event not to be missed!
