No matter what time of year you plan your Snowmass vacation, there is sure to be something that will interest you and your group. Snowmass is known for an action-packed summer events calendar with a variety of festivals, concerts, and outdoor events. Snowmass and Aspen Summer 2011 Calendar of Events


•    June 15–August 17  Snowmass Rodeo—This longtime favorite event takes place every Wednesday throughout the summer. Come see a first-class rodeo in the rocky mountains, with bull riding, team roping, barrel races, bareback riding, and even ribbon roping for the little ones. The Snowmass rodeo features real cowboys and an action-packed evening of fun. There’s even a petting zoo and a mechanical bull to ride. The night starts out with a delicious barbeque, so get there early!

●    June 30–August 18  Free Thursday Night Concerts—The Snowmass free Thursday night concerts are a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Pack a picnic, gather a blanket or lawn chair, and head to Fanny Hill for a beautiful evening of music under the stars. A wide variety of musical genres are represented throughout the summer, from rock to reggae and classical jazz. No matter who is playing each week, this is a Snowmass vacation experience not to be missed.

●    July 16–August 27  Aspen Santa Fe Ballet—The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is one of the leading small dance companies in the world today. Featuring some of the most sought after choreographers and ten extremely talented dancers, this ballet is world-class and a wonderful evening out on your Snowmass summer vacation.

●    July 29–30  Snowmass Automobile Exotica—Catch this exciting motorsport event where the fastest cars around drive from Denver to Snowmass Village via beautiful Independence Pass. This caravan finishes up in Snowmass, where a special dinner each night for the participants is help, along with a free motosports expo in the Snowmass Village Mall and a vehicle viewing at Snowmass Base Village. This is a truly unique event in the Rocky Mountains.

●    August 5–7  Blast the Mast Mountain Bike Challenge—This adrenaline fueled downhill mountain bike race offers great viewing opportunities as well as movies and music. This is an exciting event on Snowmass ski area and is fun for viewers of all ages.

●    August 12-14  Snowmass Antique and Fine Art Festival—Forty highly respected antique and art dealers from around the country descend upon Snowmass Village mall for this fun weekend event. Including estate jewelry, fine European and rustic contemporary furniture to fine art, silver, textiles, vintage posters and more.

●    August 20  Snowmass Chalk It Up—This chalk art competition is a one of a kind sidewalk art event in Snowmass Village. Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to create a piece of art that will make the sidewalk come alive. Prizes will be awarded at this free event, which is sure to be a great sight to see!

●    August 24–September 18  Fall in Love with Aspen Snowmass—There’s no better place to enjoy the magnificent fall colors and crisp mountain air than in Snowmass Village. Enjoy the Aspen Saturday Market, the Ride for the Cure, Ruggerfest, the Golden Leaf Half Marathon, the Balloon Festival and so much more. Many people say that fall is the most magical time of year to visit Aspen Snowmass, and there are plenty of world-class late summer and fall events to get you here.

●    August 26-27  Colorado Relay—This 195 mile race from Georgetown to beautiful Snowmass Village is a ten-person relay. In it’s 14th year, the Colorado Relay is one of the most unique relay races around. Come cheer on the runners as they make their way into Snowmass!

●    September 2–4  Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Festival—The annual labor day festival takes place in the Snowmass Village Town Park, with the Snowmass Ski Area and Mt. Daly as the beautiful backdrop for this music festival bringing top acts. An international bazaar with exotic foods, drinks, and crafts completes this wonderful weekend of music. People travel from all over the world for this open-air fall music festival in Snowmass Village.

●    September 10  Octoberfest—Each year in the fall the Snowmass Village mall is turned into a Bavarian bazaar of music, food, dancing, shopping, and enjoyment of the fall harvest season. Biergartens are set up with authentic German beer and food.

●    September 16–18  Snowmass Balloon Festival—Visit Snowmass in the Fall for one of the highest altitude hot air balloon events in the country. Brightly colored balloons fill the sky in the morning and evening against the backdrop of the Snowmass ski area and surrounding mountains, which is a magical sight to see. Special events during the weekend include a bbq, kids zone, the night glow, and a free outdoor concert with twinkling balloons in the background. This weekend is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

●    September 17–18  Snowmass Wine Festival—Each year wine enthusiasts travel to Snowmass Village in September to experience wines from over 80 vintners offering wine from around the world as well as delicious cuisine from local chefs. This intimate festival is a great way to interact and learn from wine and food professionals. Live music and a live auction round out this fun weekend in one of the most beautiful settings in the Rockies.

●    September 24  Golden Leaf Half Marathon—Chosen by Trail Runner Magazine as one of “America’s 14 most scenic races,” this half marathon traverses from Snowmass Village to the heart of Aspen on beautiful mountain trails at the peak of the fall colors.
